Since the beginning of his career Mohamad Omran has considered the theme of the “tortured human body” as his main subject. The human in his works transforms to a deformed monster, it becomes a metaphor of an imagined animal/beast. With the outbreak of events in Syria in March 2011, he started a series of drawings reflecting violence and daily death. Mohamad Omran started to work on the theme of “Waiting” in 2015: silent bodies wearing sunglasses as if not being able to see, sitting steadily in their eternal places staring dull-witted at us. In his work “Faces” which is an extension of “Waiting”; the repeated face becomes the essential element.
